Sierra Club Endorses Congressman Connolly

The Sierra Club’s National Political Team and Virginia Chapter have once again endorsed Congressman Gerry Connolly’s re-election campaign. Congressman Connolly is proud of his 22-year record of protecting the environment -- first in Fairfax County and now in the Congress.

Expressing their support of Congressman Connolly, the Sierra Club said “we value your continued strong commitment and advocacy for our vital environmental issues, to include climate change and protecting the water, air, land, and valuable natural resources of Virginia and the nation.”

As a founder and co-chair of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Caucus, Congressman Connolly has done everything in his power to protect and strengthen the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and other key aspects to protecting our environment. Over the years, the Congressman has supported movements toward promoting clean energy and public health through his votes in favor of legislation such as the American Clean Energy and Security Act and also his votes against legislation that could further harm the environment such as the Keystone XL pipeline. This year, he’s led the effort to stop oil companies from drilling off the Virginia coast and worked to protect our region from toxic coal ash.

Congressman Connolly greatly appreciates this endorsement and plans to further the fight for clean energy and preserving our country’s nature and wildlife with his re-election this November.
