House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer is a friend and ally in Congress fighting against the extreme right-wing agenda set by Republicans in the House. Together we stood up against the budget passed last month that privatized Medicare, one of the most popular and successful programs in our nation's history. Republicans chose to cut Medicare for our seniors, while at the same time extending tax breaks for big oil, and continuing budget deficits for years to come. Together we denounced these draconian cuts to one of the programs we value the most.

This election has turned into a referendum on the House Republican plan to privatize Medicare, and voters are showing their disgust at this scheme to privatize one of the most successful and popular government programs in our nation's history.
